Anecdote* | Gilbert de Pynkeney, the fourth Baron, succeded his father, Ralph, in the early years of the reign of Henry II, and was much more active in public life J. Horace Rounds, "Feudal England," pp.218, 219, 255. His younger brother, RALPH, appears to have gone into Wilts, for in the survey in connection with the ransom of King Richard I (6 Rich. I) Ralhp de Pynkeni is mentioned as "holding land in Somerford Maltravers (Broad Somerford)" "Abbreviatio Placitorum," p.13.
