First of all welcome to all of you from the United States of America who are interested in the Pinckney family.

I thought I needed a page specifically for you for two reasons; firstly, that I do get quite a lot of contact from you which is nice but secondly because there is really not much I can do to help you and I don't want to waste your time and mine.

I am from the UK and I have therefore concentrated mainly on the UK Pinckneys. There are Pinckneys all over the world, such as in Australia and New Zealand, France and even Canada and South Africa. Most of these people can trace their descendants quite easily back to the UK and the numbers of people involved are quite small. My problem is that when it comes to America I just don't have the time or resources to fully include everyone, it would literally at least double if not treble or quadruple my database and I just can't physically do it.

What I have included are some lines in America where the ancestry is directly attributable to the UK. So for example I have included Thomas and Charles from South Carolina and Roger, also of South Carolina but from a different branch. I have even found a line directly related to my line via Thomas who emigrated in 1871. For these lines I've have included several generations of the families in America but by no means all of them.

The best advice I can give, which I give to most people who contact me from America is to go to the web site for the Pinckneys in America, get a copy of there book 'Back Over Home' and then once you've read it and if you still have further questions then get in contact with them.

I'm still happy to hear from anyone who may be able to help me linking UK Pinckneys to America or anything else that may be able to help me but there is really nothing I can do with 'can you help me trace long lost uncle Bill...' or 'Can you tell me if I'm related to Charles Cotesworth Pinckney...'. Your best bet is the American Pinckney web site.

Wishing you all the best
